What Does ATMD Do?
The Air Traffic Management Division is responsible for managing the national air space and ensuring smooth and safe flow of air traffic from, into, and overhead Botswana air space/airports. The unit delivers its services in accordance with Anex 12, and 15 of ICAO, which lays out recommendations regarding international air traffic standards and procedures. It is this unit which also vested with the responsibility of co-ordinating search and rescue in the country
ATMD Management and Staff
The head of ATMD is Mr. M. Sentle, who joined the department in 1975. Mr. Sentle holds several professional licences in ATC as well as a BSc. Degree in Air Traffic Control from Massey Unversity, New Zealand. He localised the post of Senior Air Traffic Control Officer 1985.
The rest of his management team includes Mr. O. Maroba, Mr. Ernest Kakala, and others. The ATMD staff members are mainly Air Traffic Controllers.
