What Does AED Do?
The Aerodromes Engineering Division is one the many divisions of DCA and is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of airports and air strips in the country. The unit delivers its services in accordance with Anex 14 of ICAO, which lays out recommendations regarding international airports standards and procedures.
AED Management and Staff
The head of AED is Mr. S. Kolo, who joined the department in 1987, after serving for some time as a road engineer with Roads Department. Mr. Kolo holds a BSc. Degree in Civil Engineering from the Unversity of Southern California, Los Angeles, California, USA and is a standing member of Botswana Society of Engineers. He localised the post of Senior Aerodromes Engineer in January 1991. He was taking over from Dr. M. E. Joseph, who was his advisor till December 1998.
The rest of his management team includes Billy Amankwah, Audry [Bogosi], and others. The AED staff members are mainly aerodromes/civil engineers and technicians.
